Working with freelancers here is more than a basic chat with sent files.

Payment Protection Guarantee

We want HostJane to be a safe and reliable platform for work. To ensure that the marketplace upholds its integrity, we make a promise to all buyers:

As part of 2.1.2 of our Marketplace terms, you will receive your full money-back paid on a Service less the non-refundable Handling Fee:

  • If Seller fails to send you a work delivery within the time they said they would on their listing page;
  • If what the Seller sends you is unacceptable or poor quality

We take our Purchase Protection policy seriously to ensure it is not abused by anyone.

Securing your account

Two-factor authentication (2FA), also called two-step verification is an additional security layer HostJane can add to verify your account when you sign in.

Enable two-factor by navigating to Settings > Security

If enabled, the next time you login, HostJane will send a code to your email to ask you to verify your login device.

The code expires in 2 minutes, so you will need to have immediate access to your email to receive it.

Verifying your identity

It’s a good idea to verify your identity if you’re a seller, to increase Buyer’s trust in your service.

Sometimes we’ll ask you to verify your identity.

Navigate to Listings Center and click Get verified to begin the process.

To confirm your identity, you’ll need to submit a photo of your government ID.

This could be a driver’s licence, passport, identity card or visa document.

We’ll also ask you to confirm that the person in the Government ID is you by uploading a recent selfie of yourself.

Taking a break

You can only take a break and pause your listings if you do not have any active orders.

  1. To activate break mode, go to the listings center

  1. Click ‘Take a break’ above the listings panel

  1. Choose a reason and number of days you will be away - up to 25 days at a time.

Take a break mode will automatically deactivate after the number of days you set.

All your listings will be paused when take a break mode ends. You will need to manually resume each listing one by one.

Blocking a user

To block a user, either add their username to blocked accounts in settings or block the user via the block link in Messages

A Blocked user cannot:

  • Send you messages on HostJane
  • Send you tips
  • Purchase your services

How do I close or delete my account?

Navigate to Settings > Close account and complete the on-screen instructions.

For audit and legal reasons, there is a 30-day waiting period before your account and data is destroyed as per HostJane’s privacy policy.

During the 30-day waiting period:

  • Any listings you created will be unavailable
  • Your conversations will be inaccessible to users you’ve chatted to
  • Your username will not be searchable

Login anytime before the deletion date to restore your account.

After the 30-day waiting period, your account (and any listings) will be permanently removed from the site and cannot be restored.

New accounts cannot use your deleted username.

How does HostJane appear on my statement
